The Old Akatsuki

Akatsuki was formed by Yahiko, Nagato and Konan to bring peace to the world starting from Hidden Rain Village,

Leader

Yahiko

Yahiko was a shinobi from Hidden Rain Village. Alongside his fellow war orphans, Nagato and Konan, he founded and led the Akatsuki in an attempt to bring peace. Following Yahiko's death, Nagato would turn his body into the Tendo Pain of his Six Paths of Pain, which he used in his public image as Akatsuki's new leader.

Members

Nagato

Nagato was a shinobi of Hidden Rain Village and descendant of the Uzumaki clan. Forming Akatsuki alongside his friends (and fellow war orphans) Yahiko and Konan, Nagato dreamed of bringing peace to the violent shinobi world. However, following Yahiko's death, Nagato adopted the alias of Pain and, along with Konan, began leading a new Akatsuki; one that would force the world into peace using any means necessary.

Konan

Konan was a kunoichi from Hidden Rain Village and a founding member of the old Akatsuki. After Yahiko's death, she was partnered with Nagato, who had since taken control of Akatsuki, and was the only member to call him by his name. After Nagato's death, Konan defected from the Akatsuki and became the de facto village head of Amegakure.

The New Akatsuki

The new Akatsuki was formed by Tobi, Nagato(Pain) and Konan to bring peace to the world through the infinite Tsukynome.  

Leaders

Pain

After the death of Yahiko, Nagato used Yahiko's body to create Tendo Pain of his "Six paths of pain" and used as a public image of akatsuki's leader. He was Originally controlled by Nagato himself. He was able to control six pains at a time. He was defeated by Naruto Uzamaki when he invaded Hidden Leaf Village and destroyed it completely. But after inspiration from Naruto as a fellow student, he revived every man he killed from the "Reni-Rebirth Jitsu".

Tobi (Obito Uchiha)

Obito Uchiha a member of Team Minato and a friend of Kakashi Hatake, took the name of Madara Uchiha and told Nagato to form a new Akatsuki which should be consisting of 10 members, and  used him to collect all the nine Tailed Beasts. But after Pain was defeated by Naruto he took control of the Akatsuki and used it to start the Fourth Great Shinobi War by using Tailed Beasts as weapons.

Members

Konan

After Yahiko's death Konan joined the new Akatsuki and fought as the right hand to Nagato (Pain). She wanted to bring peace to the world through violence just like Tobi wanted to.

Deidara

Deidara was an S-rank missing-ninja from the Hidden Stone village. During his time in the village, he was a member of the Explosion Corps. After defecting from the village, he was forced into Akatsuki and was its youngest member. There, Deidara was partnered with Sasori until the latter's death, and later with Tobi before his own death. Deidara was defeated and killed by Sasuke Uchiha.

Sasori

Sasori also known as Sasori of the Red Sand was an S-rank missing-ninja from Village Hidden Sand's Puppet Brigade and a member of Akatsuki, where he was partnered with Orochimaru and later, Deidara. He was defeated by his grand mother Lady Chew and Sakura Haruno.

Hidan

Hidan is an S-rank missing-ninja who defected from Hidden Steam Village and later joined the Akatsuki. There, he was partnered with Kakuzu, despite the two's somewhat mutual dislike of each other. He was also the second newest member of Akatsuki at the time of Tobi's introduction. Kisame Hoshigaki laughingly referred to Hidan and Kakuzu as the Zombie Combo. He was defeated by Shikamaru Nara taking revenge of Asuma Saratobi his mentor, Hidan was buried so that cannot get out so easily.

Kakuzu

Kakuzu was an S-rank missing-ninja from Hidden Water fall village and a member of Akatsuki who was partnered with Hidan. Kisame Hoshigaki jokingly referred to them as the Zombie Combo due to the fact that, in a sense, they could not die. He was defeated by Kakashi Hatake and Naruto.

Itachi Uchiha

Itachi Uchiha was a prodigy of Leaf Village's Uchiha clan. He became an international criminal after murdering his entire clan, sparing only his younger brother, Sasuke. He afterwards joined the Akatsuki, whose activity brought him into frequent conflict with Hidden Leaf and its ninja — including Sasuke — who sought to avenge their clan. Following his death, Itachi's motives were revealed to be more complicated than they seemed and that his actions were only ever in the interest of his brother and village, remaining a loyal shinobi of Leaf Village to the very end.

Kisame Hoshigaki

Kisame Hoshigaki, feared as the Monster of the Hidden Mist, was an S-rank missing-ninja from Hidden Mist's Seven Ninja Swordsmen and was partnered with Itachi Uchiha when he latter joined Akatsuki. He was defeated by Might Gai a taijitsu master of Hidden Leaf.

Zetsu

Zetsu was being which consisted of two halves "White Zetsu" and "Black Zetsu". He was one of the creators of The New Akatsuki, White Zetsu were made by Infinite Tsukynome They were first made by Kagoya which were taken by Madara Uchiha they contained Hashiram's blood. The black Zetsu was created by Kagoya before dying to revive her afterwards.

Orochimaru

Orochimaru joined the Akatsuki  but the only reason for him to join the Akatsuki was that he wanted to take away Pain's Renigan or Itachi Uchiha's Sheringan when he failed to take away those eyes he left the Akatsuki trying to murder Itachi before he left. He was than killed by Sasuke to gain more power. But he was revived by Sasuke later to win help out Allied Shinobi Forces in the Fourth Great Shinobi War.
